Stop the spread

Marena's Vice President of Product Development has designed a Reusable Antibacterial Face Mask to fill the current face mask need around the world. Providing your workforce with face masks is an essential part in helping prevent the spread of Covid-19 within your organization and beyond. Follow these 5 tips for equipping your workforce with face masks:

Tip #1: Wash hands when applying/removing a face mask

It’s critical to communicate that hands be washed for at least 20 seconds with soap and water before touching and applying the face mask. If soap and water are unavailable, use a highly concentrated alcohol-based hand sanitizer to cover all surfaces of the hands. Rub together until they feel dry.

Tip #2: Ensure proper application of face masks

To ensure optimal effectiveness, confirm your team knows how to put on the face mask correctly. Place the shiny side to the face with pleats facing downward. The edges of the mask should follow the contour of the face, with the upper edge over the nose and close to your eyes, and the bottom edge over the chin toward the neck. Then, loop the straps over the ears and adjust to tightly cover the nose and mouth (or respirator if combined). The loops can be twisted to provide a tighter fit if needed.

Tip #3: Avoid touching the outer layer of the mask

To remove a contaminated mask, it’s important to communicate that touching the outer layer should be avoided. Have the employee remove the loops from around the ears and immediately put into washer, sterilizer or safe storage. Remind your employee not to touch their eyes, nose, and mouth when removing their face covering. Wash hands immediately after removing.

Tip #4: Wash or sterilize the mask before re-use

It’s critical that your employees resist the reuse of contaminated masks. The mask should be washed or sterilized before re-use, every time. Our Reusable Antibacterial Face Masks can be washed at temperatures above 160°F (71°C), steam cleaned at temperatures up to 270°F (132°C), and ironed at temperatures up to 365°F (185°C). Hands should be sanitized immediately after handling contaminated masks. Discard if damaged or torn.

Tip #5: Face masks are not a substitute for social distancing

Until the CDC recommends otherwise, mask usage during meetings, in common break areas, or other shared work spaces should be encouraged in addition to remaining at least 6 feet apart from other team members.
