LIPEDEMA + COMPRESSION: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Lipedema, or painful fat syndrome, is a chronic condition that affects 1 in 9 women causing excess fat under the skin to accumulate in the lower body and upper arms. If left untreated, the condition can progress through various states of syptomatic severity.
There is no cure but the condition can be managed with compression therapy and certain types of liposuction procedures.
COMPRESSION HAS BEEN SHOWN TO HELP EARLY & MID DISEASE STATE LIPEDEMA:
Applying compression may decrease inflammation, tenderness, and pain, lessening the risk of tissue fibrosis
Lessen pain and sensitivity plus experience increased comfort and improved mobility with the aid of compression
By reducing swelling and fluid accumulation in the legs, compression can help alleviate discomfort and enhance mobility
Compression may help improve blood flow and lymphatic drainage, reducing the risk of blood clots and other complications
Using compression after lipedema reduction procedures can help improve comfort, plus lessen pain and bruising
In the early state, lipedema typically appears as excess fat around the lower body, especially around the hips and thighs. Symptoms may be mild and not significantly affect appearance.
Research suggests that compression therapy and lipedema reduction surgeries can help manage symptoms¹,² in this stage as well as slow the progression of the disease³.
Our Lipedema Early-State Everyday Management Legging with FlexFit Comfort Ankle™ is tailored with a tapered leg silhouette for a snug fit and optimal compression during early-stage lipedema
In mid-state lipedema, fat accumulates noticeably in the lower body, including the pelvis, thighs, and knees. The calves appear fuller and less tapered compared to earlier stages.
Compression therapy has been shown to be effective in managing mid-state lipedema symptoms¹,² by helping to reduce pain, tenderness, and bruising, which can help improve mobility⁴.
Our Lipedema Mid-State Everyday Management Legging with FlexFit Comfort Ankle™ is designed with a fuller leg and ankle silhouette to accommodate these more enlarged areas of the body without causing discomfort or constriction.
